Throwback Thursday (Salisbury Steak)

Salisbury Steak is not a dish that feels contemporary. I had heard of it, but never tried it. By the time I was in grade school it had passed out of favor a school lunch option, which is mostly what I heard it described as (most descriptions were not favorable).
Alton's recipe is most notable to me because this is the first time I've ever seen him use a ramen flavor packet, normally he has you throw those out because he's after the noodles. It also brought milk powder into my house, which I'd never used (and now need to use up).

Whatever the school lunch versions tasted like, this version is probably closer to what made the dish popular back in the day. It's basically fancy hamburger patties covered in wine mushroom gravy.
Difficulty Level: Medium
Will It Get Made Again? Unlikely. Without a nostalgic attachment to this recipe it's fine but not impressive. We didn't have any problems eating it up, but I have no burning need to repeat it.
Served with mixed veggies and potato salad, like a version of a school lunch.
